Spike Lee is one of the latest to pay tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, sharing emotional clips of Boseman in his Netflix film Da 5 Bloods.
Spike Lee pays tribute to the late, great Chadwick Boseman with scenes from his film Da 5 Bloods. Boseman, best known for playing the MCU’s Black Panther, passed away on Friday following a four-year battle with colon cancer. The news came as a shock to both fans and those who had the privilege of working with Boseman, and this weekend has been spent largely remembering his work. Aside from his time in the MCU, Boseman established himself as a talented leading man through biopics where he played prominent Black historical figures. Da 5 Bloods was his most recent film, having been released back in June.
Lee directed and co-wrote Da 5 Bloods for Netflix. The film centered on four African American Vietnam veterans who reunite and return to the country in order to find the remains of their fallen leader Stormin’ Norman (Boseman) and the treasure they had hidden away. Da 5 Bloods received almost universally positive reviews from critics, with some Oscar buzz even emerging for Lee and the stacked cast. Aside from Boseman, the film starred Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.
